Roughriders Win State

The Colleyville Roughriders won the USSSA North Zone 8U AA State Championship in baseball, going 5-0 in the championship tournament.

The Roughriders competed in a field of 13 teams.

Team members include Jonathan Hearn, Cole Brown, Luke Edwards, Alex Johnson, Mathew Melcher, Mitchell McNamee, Chance McClure, Cole Silvestri, Ryan Quinn, Tate Dill and Ryan Rice.

The Roughriders are coached by Tim Edwards and assistant coaches Marc Hearn, Kirk Brown, Jon Silvestri and Zach Johnson.

Cougars Win Division Championship

The Colleyville Cougars went undefeated in the Richland Pony Invitation on June 16-21 to win the Shetland Division Championship.

Team members include Austin Thorp, Ben Braun, Jacob Edwards, Colby Kroutil, Graham Stiefel, Colton Parsons, Kaden Johnson, Luke Mabe, Chase Kahle, Corbin Inman, Sam Adams and Camden Kitowski.

The team is coached by Damon Inman, Chris Mabe and Rick Kahle.

Wildcats Win State

The North Texas Wildcats 12U team recently won its state championship tournament in Mesquite.

Team members include David Wiese, Jeffery Stewart, JJ Mitrokostas, Ryan Ramsey, Drew Bolin, Bryce Reeves, Dillon Hennen, Josh Peterson, Lane Norwood and Lee Suddeth.

The team is coached by Ric Miller, Richard Peterson and Rusty Reeves.

The Wildcats 12U team draws players from Colleyville, Grapevine and Keller.

Southlake Kicker Earns Top Honor For Class

Carroll High School kicker Cade Foster recently attended the Chris Sailor Top 12 Kicking Camp where he was named the Top Underclassman and the 2010 MVP kicker of the camp.

Foster was among four juniors and eight seniors from around the country to attend the camp.

According to a news release, Foster "is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation for the class of 2010 with a five star rating."

Stingrays Qualify For Games of Texas

The City of Southlake Stingrays swim team performed well at the TAAF Regional Swim Championships on July 12-13 with 68 top-four finishes and 56 individual medals, as well as 68 relay medals.

The Stingrays earned a trip to the Games of Texas State Championship with the effort, which took place last weekend in San Antonio.

Eight Stingrays swimmers won first place in all three of the events in which they competed, including Drew Anderson, 12, John Ausdenmoore, 14, Matthew Chao, 7, Lexi Colon, 14, Carson Henderson, 14, Matthew Howrey, 9, Abby Privett, 12, and Haley Vassios, 12.

The Stingrays are coached by Linda Shults, and the team’s program director is Lynne Anderson.
