June 6
Dear Editor:
Suzanne Maisto’s campaign positions are reminding me of that old game show, To Tell the Truth. Maisto sent out a fundraising letter in which she promised to not take any PAC money. Next thing I know, I am getting a mailer from the Texas Association of Realtors PAC endorsing Maisto; according to my rough calculations, that’s about a $5,000 donation from a PAC.
Then Maisto claims in a mailout that she led the "fight" against high-density housing. But she told the Southlake Journal on Feb. 15 that she supports townhomes north of Texas114. She also said that she believes "there are areas where we can put high-density housing and accommodate the needs of many people." This last statement sounds like code words for apartments. Generally, one does not lead a "fight" by opening the gates and letting the enemy into camp. Maisto, as a Realtor, ought to know that kind of housing will ruin Southlake’s superior schools.
I can’t wait for the "real’ Suzanne Maisto to stand up. I will be voting for Pamela Muller in the upcoming runoff election. Pamela has a voting record that proves she supports low-density housing, not townhomes or apartments. I urge everybody else to vote for Pamela Muller for City Council Place 6 in the upcoming June 14 runoff election to protect our schools and home values.
